European United Left/Nordic Green Left Group in the European Parliament Delegation to Moldova
Four Members of the European Left/Nordic Green Left Group in the European Parliament (GUE/NGL) will be in Chisinau, Moldova, from today until Friday July 2 2010. Lothar Bisky (GUE/NGL Chairman, Germany), João Ferreira (Portugal), Jiři Maštálka (Czech Republic) and Alfred Rubiks (Latvia) will meet with Vlad Filat, Prime Minister of Moldova, and Natalia Gherman, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, as well as national parliamentarians from different political parties and the EU ambassador. The delegation's visit will be concluded with a Press Conference at the headquarters of "Basa-Press" News Agency, Sciusev street 76, on Friday at 10:30 am.
The GUE/NGL group in the European Parliament has been following developments in Moldova with concern for some time now with a key reason for the GUE/NGL visit being recent moves to restrict democratic freedoms and rights in the country.
